Clint Eastwood continues to question the justice and its always a difficult relationship with the law. Why would a man who was forced to kill other human beings without mercy, can not help but turn in on itself and live in hatred? He does so to defend themselves? By whom? From what? From his guilt? From God? The times and locations are so changed and the certainties of the past crumble one by one. The Japs are the new neighbors and some of them know how to communicate better than do members of one family. You can no longer barricade themselves behind their prejudices and to remain to look askance at the changing world if we are to save at least something the old Gran Torino. So Callahan (Calahan or O Callaghan) to eighty can not escape from being a hero again. Beautiful, must-see.
