Fin from the title, which the French edition has added a corollary explanation, "revue et corrige" precisely, the new film by Brian De Palma prensenta you as a mosaic of images reconstructed. "Redacted" means fact "preparing for publication" or "edit", "reconstruction" and even "manage" than "drafting". In an absolutely masterful De Palma re-creates materials from different sources - surveillance cameras, more or less amateur footage taken by soldiers, Iraqi TV services and video on the internet, there are also fragments of a fake documentary with artistic ambitions - and reassembles them into a single tragic representation. The everything takes place in Samarra in 2006 and told the story is inspired by a true story, or the gang rape of a fifteen, his assassination and that of his entire family by a group of U.S. soldiers. In addition to denounce the horror, degradation and violence generated by an unnecessary war, unprovoked, if not in terms of personal opportunity, in the eyes of the soldiers themselves, De Palma is uncertain, as always, on the legality of cinematic voyeurism. Is it not also a crime to assist the atrocities of war to film and maybe guadagnarcisi to eat? De Palma seems to consider the "voyeur" as guilty as the perpetrator. Actually the problem is filosofico, quindi insolubile.
Perfetti anche gli attori e molto kubrickiani (In my opinion it is no coincidence that here there is a Pyle become bad), like the trio op.100 Andante of Schubert, Barry Lindon soundtrack . I do not know when it comes out in Italy, but it is certainly a film that's worth the wait.
A curiosity: Casualties of War, or The Outrages, the only other war films of De Palma, is set in Vietnam and has the same plot! Courses and resorts and movie history!
