Tim Burton has always dealt with monsters. Monsters are still victims of a society that holds up, isolates them and despise them. In the case of Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street , the case is slightly different: the first to suffer the grievous wrong that tore him away from his family, the barber Benjamin Barker was a regular guy, and quite popular in its field , is the fact of becoming a victim of a terrible injustice, which then turns into the monster. In short, the monsters are victims, and victims sometimes turn into monsters. In the case of this film is the thirst for revenge that turns the hero into monsters. Initially, the action picks unequivocally that the Count of Monte Cristo, both come from the sea, have changed names and wish to become justice. But then the story of Sweeney Todd evolve quite differently, perhaps lacks the coolness of the famous Count ... With regard to the visual
, Sweeney Todd fits perfectly in style and iconography developed by Tim Burton over the years: toni bruises on which stands the red of blood, gothic atmospheres and characters staring with improbable hair. Turning finally to the sound, the choice of the musical is bizarre but coherent: the characters as they sing to express their belonging to the same fairy tale. I know that many people do not stand musicals, but I must say that in this case the music is very discreet: we follow the story almost without noticing that the characters speak and there is no singing talent shows, ballets and choruses. Of course it is to avoid any edition other than the original!
